Introduction
If you aren’t aware of the George Floyd riots in 2020, you have clearly been M.I.A for some time now. In summary, a police officer in Minneapolis knelt on a man’s neck for nearly nine minutes on May 25, killing him as onlookers recorded. The man, George Floyd, had a voice that was obstructed and fading- pleading “I can’t breathe” over and over again. This cruel murder was the straw that broke the camel’s back in an America where police overreach and brutality flourishes unchecked (and has for decades). It only took about a day for nationwide civil unrest to break out, which begun initially with rioting and looting that swept through metropolitan centers from coast to coast.
WeaponsG.com has compiled footage from Twitter highlighting the first three weeks of George Floyd protests, when tensions were the at their highest.
